First Baptist Church of Sudan, Texas, has a five-fold mission statement. When we understand our purpose it allows all that we do to line up with our reason for being here.
To Exalt Our Savior - The Lord Jesus is to have first place in all that we do. All praise, honor, and glory for what has, is, and will be done is to go to Him. As believers, we want to worship God for all that He is. (Philippians 3:7-10).
To Evangelize Those Outside of Christ - While many have a religion, it is God's desire that we have a personal relationship with Him through Jesus, His only Son. People need to know how they might have this saving relationship. This is the Good News which we preach. (John 3:16, Romans 10:9-13).
To Edify Believers in Christ - It is our desire to build up the church-- the body of Christ through encouragement, prayer, and Bible study. (John 13:34-35).
To Equip Believers To Do The Work Of The Lord - Jesus said "Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men." The Lord wants us to be doers of the Word and not hearers only. We seek to disciple as instructed in the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19-20; James 1:22).
To Extend God's Grace to a Grace-Needy World - Because God so freely extended His grace to us through Christ, we are complelled to extend it freely to others, and to be "A GRACE DRIVEN CHURCH TO A GRACE NEEDY WORLD". (2 Corinthians 8:9; 5:14-15: 1 Peter 4:10).
